I am a PhD candidate at the University of Toronto in the Department of Geography & Planning. I also have an MA degree in Latin American Studies from UCLA and a BA in History from UC Berkeley.

My research interests are regional economic development, migration, globalization, institutions and inequality. Specifically, I look at the ways in which migration, globalization and institutions interact with regional development to shape the economic outcomes of people and places.

I am a first-generation college student, was a community college transfer, and came into academia through an unconventional path. These experiences strongly inform my teaching, research and service approaches and interests.

Having positive mentorship has been instrumental to my success and in my free time, I work with a community organization called Stoked Mentoring that provides after school and weekend programming with an action sports focus for underserved high school and middle school students.
