I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of City & Regional Planning at UC Berkeley. Previously I held postdoctoral fellowships at UCLA's Department of Urban Planning and Harvard's Graduate School of Design. I completed my PhD in geography at the University of Toronto. I also have an MA degree in Latin American Studies from UCLA and a BA in history from UC Berkeley.
My research interests are urban and regional economics, social and spatial inequality, migration, segregation, and globalization. Broadly, my research centers on the drivers of disparities in economic opportunity across and within U.S. cities. I am a first-generation college student and a former community college transfer student. These experiences strongly inform my teaching, research and service approaches and interests.
